Paper trading
Paper trading is a simulated account with a balance you choose. The bot scans, Roundtable-votes, sizes, opens, and manages positions on real live market data — but never places a real order. It is the ideal way to learn the system and tune your parameters risk-free.
Turn it on
Settings → Paper trading → check paper trading mode, set a starting balance, Save. A PAPER badge appears on your Account value, and every stat — value, cash, buying power, open & realized P&L, win rate — reflects the paper account.
How it behaves
- Global override. While paper is on, every engine is forced to dry-run regardless of the per-engine live/dry switches. Buying power = starting balance + realized paper P&L − committed.
- Fully separate & kept. Paper positions are tagged
PAPERand never mix with your real Schwab account. Switching back to live keeps your paper account intact for review; Reset paper account clears it back to the starting balance. - Per user. Every account has its own independent paper money, positions, and P&L.
- Live data. It still uses your Schwab connection read-only for live option quotes/chains (equities/forecasts work off free data, but option strategies need the chain).
Run a strategy in paper for a week or two, check the Analytics page for expectancy and win rate, then decide whether to take it live.
